The Local Marketing Handbook

Your First 30 Days

Print this page. One item at a time.

Do not try to do all six essentials this week — do one per week and you will be ahead of nearly every competitor in your town.

Week One - Know who you serve

  • Draw the persona silhouette and fill in all four sections.
  • Write your one-sentence audience statement and post it where you see it.
  • Write the five-question pitch and say it out loud three times.

Week Two - Fix your profile

  • Claim or sign into your Google Business Profile.
  • Set a specific primary category and add every secondary you qualify for.
  • Check every attribute that honestly applies to your business.
  • Upload ten photos and tag them. Exterior, interior, team, products, work.
  • Generate a quarter of posts with the AI prompt, edit them, schedule them.

Week Three - Reviews and website

  • Send your review link to five customers with the specific ask.
  • Reply to every unanswered review, naming what you did.
  • Fix your home page headline so it passes the five-second phone test.
  • Draft one service page for your highest-value service.

Week Four - Get legible and get out there

  • Match your name, address, and phone character for character everywhere.
  • Add LocalBusiness schema to your site, or ask your web person for it.
  • Ask three AI assistants who to call for your service in your town. Write down what you learn.
  • Email one local organization and offer to help with something.

Then, every week after

One profile post. Three photos. Ask two customers for a review. Reply to everything.

That last line is the whole job. Everything above it is setup. The businesses that win at this are not the ones with the best plan. They are the ones still doing it in month seven.

Want a hand with any of it?

You now have the whole system. If you would rather not do it alone, that is what I do for a living. Thirty minutes, live, and you keep the work.
